Thiago Seyboth Wild has won the 2026 Santa Cruz de la Sierra 2 Challenger. In the final the Brazilian beat Bolivia's Hugo Dellien 6-4 6-3 to lift the title at a Challenger 75 event played on clay, which started on 12 October.

The win is worth 75 ATP points, the prize for the champion, and takes Seyboth Wild to No. 111 in the ranking with 545 points. Just ahead is Valentin Royer (No. 110), with 8 more. Just behind is Dane Sweeny (No. 112), with 7 fewer. The gaps are tiny: one round more or less in a tournament is enough to change a position.

The jump is clear. In the latest update Seyboth Wild has climbed 25 places, from No. 136 to No. 111. Looking back to 9 September 2026, the overall gain reaches 87 places. For a 26-year-old, born on 10 March 2000, it is a snapshot of an autumn as a protagonist on the Challenger circuit.

The road to the title was almost always downhill. In his opener, the third round, he beat Mateus Alves 6-3 7-6(3). In the round of 16 he beat Carlos Maria Zarate 6-2 6-2, and in the quarter-finals Nicolas Kicker 6-1 6-1. In those two matches he dropped just six games in total: a step up in level that settled the pecking order.

The real test came in the semi-final against Argentina's Francisco Comesana. It was the longest match of the tournament, 36 games over three sets: 7-6(0) 4-6 7-6(3). The first tie-break ended 7-0 without a fight. In the second set Comesana levelled the match, but in the third the Brazilian kept his nerve, even in the deciding tie-break.

In the final stood Dellien, the home player. The Bolivian had reached the last act by beating Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez 6-3 7-5 in the round of 16 and Juan Manuel La Serna 6-4 6-3 in the semi-final. Against Seyboth Wild, though, he found no way to break the rhythm: 6-4 6-3 was the final score, in two sets and without a tie-break.

The site's player page records a 1-2 head-to-head between the two over three meetings, so the rivalry is still open. Dellien takes home 45 points, the finalist's share, and the consolation of having brought Bolivia within one match of the title in front of his own crowd.

The victory confirms remarkable form. In his last 10 matches Seyboth Wild has 9 wins and a single defeat. Over his 30 most recent matches the record is 19 wins and 11 losses, a balance of +8. The only stumble in the recent run came in the final of the Antofagasta Challenger, another Challenger 75 on clay, lost to Joao Lucas Reis Da Silva 7-6(2) 1-6 6-2.

Among the tournaments followed by the site, the Brazilian's 2026 season reads in three lines. In Genoa, at a Challenger 125, he won the title and collected 125 points. In Antofagasta he reached the final, for 45 points. In Santa Cruz de la Sierra he finished as champion, with another 75. Together that makes 245 points in three tournaments: a big slice of the 545 that put him at No. 111 today.

To understand where he restarts from, it helps to look at the past too. In the Grand Slams, Masters 1000, ATP 500 and 250 events followed by the site, Seyboth Wild closed 2025 with 6 wins and 8 losses, and no titles. In 2024 the record was 18-20. From 2021 to 2025 the total is 26 wins and 39 losses, 40%. These numbers exclude Challengers and the ATP Finals, but they explain why this streak matters so much.

The tournament itself was a microcosm of South American tennis. The draw had 25 players from 6 nations. Argentina was the most represented, with 14 players, and its best result was the semi-final. Brazil had 5 and won the title. Bolivia, with 2 players, reached the final. Uruguay, with 2, stopped at the quarter-finals. Mexico, with 1, went out in the round of 16, and the Dominican Republic, with 1, in the third round.

The statistics of the week describe a balanced competition. There were 24 matches played, with 6 tie-breaks and 10 matches that went to a deciding set. Three sets ended 6-0. There were 2 retirements: Joaquin Aguilar Cardozo left the court against Felipe Meligeni Alves at 6-0 2-1, while Guido Ivan Justo stopped against La Serna after losing the first set 6-1.

The points system for this edition rewarded consistency: 75 for the title, 45 for the final, 27 for the semi-final, 15 for the quarter-finals, 8 for the round of 16 and 3 for the third round. Seyboth Wild collected the maximum, Dellien 45 and Comesana, stopped in the semi-final, 27. For those fighting around No. 100, the difference between one round and the next is worth a place in the ranking.

Among his most frequent opponents the player page lists Laslo Djere, faced six times with a 2-4 record on the page. Djere himself is climbing the ranking in these weeks, from No. 179 to No. 136. A meeting between the two in a future draw will be one of the most interesting to follow.

Now the topic is the ranking. Above Seyboth Wild are Valentin Royer on 553 points and Sho Shimabukuro (No. 109) on 555, just 10 points away. Behind, Jan Choinski (No. 113) has 533, 12 away. With a single meaningful result, the Brazilian can gain or lose more places in the coming weeks. His path, updated day by day, can be followed on the player page and on the tournament results page.
